Associate Vice President, Payments

The Associate Vice President, Payments will provide leadership and direction for the development and implementation of the credit union’s payment program to enhance our member’s experience.

In summary, the Associate Vice President, Payments will:

  • Lead, develop and implement the payments roadmap working with cross functional teams for successful project implementation.
  • Define and execute strategies to increase the issuance of WFCU credit union’s credit and prepaid cards to maximize revenue.
  • Lead the development, implementation and execution of the credit union’s payment modernization program working across departments and with external partners as appropriate with a focus on expanding member relationships and improving the member experience.
  • Provide organizational support as required to co-badged debit cards.
  • Define and execute a plan to introduce a commercial payment platform. Lead work with vendors, commercial and systems teams to implement new digital platform to support commercial member payments and cash management.
  • Deliver a digital payments application targeting under-penetrated market segments as well as defining and implementing innovative prepaid features to address these markets.
  • Build a pipeline of prospective parties with an interest in accessing the Mastercard network (BIN sponsorship), evaluating each as it pertains to the credit union’s risk tolerance, regulatory mandate and revenue potential and manage the due diligence and partner evaluation process for each opportunity.
  • Manage BIN sponsorship pipeline, developing and implementing programs based on priorities set jointly with BIN Sponsorship Review Committee
  • Leverage ingenuity and knowledge of fintechs to align product offerings with card payments and banking services to improve the delivery of financial services to members of the credit union.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure successful implementation including readiness to meet timelines with a plan to monitor performance.
  • Monitor open banking landscape and identify opportunities for the credit union
  • Develop and execute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly strategies to hit targets and drive profitability for all payment programs
  • Plan for and manage resource allocation to minimize capacity constraints and maximize resource efficiency while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency to achieve payment program deliverables.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:

  • Post-secondary education in finance or business.
  • Strong working knowledge of the financial industry, card processing, card networks and payment operations.
  • A minimum of 10 years industry experience in payments within the financial services industry.
  • Experience working with payment networks such as Mastercard, VISA etc.
  • Strong analytic capabilities and deep knowledge on using software for modeling and analyzing data and the mindset to interpret data and trends to translate into product strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management stills.
