Systems Programmer

The Systems Programmer is responsible for working alongside key stakeholders across the organization to ensure that development efforts satisfy the specifications of end-users while adhering to quality assurance standards and data security best practices.

In summary, the Systems Programmer will:
  • Report to the Team Leader, Development
  • Gather requirements from business analysts and key stakeholders
  • Develop a variety of applications across the whole development stack
  • Troubleshoot and provide client support for our internal applications
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while adapting to changing priorities
  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality
As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for:
  • Streamlining workflows, improving the exchange of data between our frontline sales team and back office operations team
  • Coordinating within the Systems department to assign work on various layers of the infrastructure. This includes anything from back-end services to their client-end counterparts
  • Committing to collaborative problem solving and sophisticated design
  • Analyzing and resolving issues while providing superior customer service
The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:
  • A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Database Applications or a related field
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a related position
  • A self-starter with excellent verbal communication and organization skills
  • Experience in developing applications in a Microsoft environment relying on MS-ISS and Azure cloud services
  • Experience in creating/maintaining databases in a SQL Server environment. This includes creating tables, views, queries, stored procedures, scheduling jobs, and delegating permissions
  • Experience developing .NET, WEB API, ASP.NET MVC & MVC Core applications. This includes the creation and consumption of web-based APIs. Knowledge of how to secure these applications against potential threats is essential
  • Experience with the following languages: C#, JavaScript, CSS, SQL
These additional skills are considered assets too:
  • Experience working in the financial services industry
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with SVN, Git, or Azure DevOps
Please note that day, evening, weekend and on-call scheduling is required.
