As a Commercial Analyst you will be part of a dynamic team of specialists that provide support to the Commercial Services department in the areas of credit underwriting and risk analysis.  The Analyst team plays a key role in helping the Commercial Services department achieve its growth objectives while ensuring that sound lending policies and procedures are followed at all times.
 
In summary, the Commercial Analyst will:

• Report to the Director, Commercial Services.
• Help manage and maintain a commercial portfolio consisting of commercial mortgages, loans, lines of credit and letters of credit to meet the borrowing needs of our members.
• Provide ongoing analysis on credit risk, loan structuring and pricing for a loan portfolio to maximize returns while taking the least amount of risk.
• Monitor the compliance of the commercial portfolio, including financial covenants and security.
• Complete all necessary reports of the assigned portfolio.
• Prepare written and electronic correspondence.
• Demonstrate exceptional professionalism and confidentiality.

As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for:

• Coordinating and preparing annual reviews for borrowing members with a high level of quality so that the commercial portfolio remains compliant with the Credit Union’s established lending guidelines and regulatory best practices.
• Assist in underwriting new lending opportunities for borrowers operating in diverse industries throughout Ontario.
• Monitoring assigned loan portfolio ensuring commercial borrowing members adhere to the terms and conditions of their authorized credit facilities.
• Adhering to and complying with established policies, guidelines and procedures with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:

• The individual must possess a university level degree in a related field. A Bachelor of Commerce or MBA is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of financial statements and accounting practices.
• A high level of analytical ability and sound credit analysis skills.
• Excellent computer proficiency operating Microsoft Office programs.

Additional skills considered assets are:

• Experience working in the financial services industry particularly in Commercial lending.
• Time spent working toward CPA Practical Experience Requirements.
